Chien-Ming Wang never will be confused with Nolan Ryan for his
strikeout totals. And he'll probably never get mentioned in the
same sentence with Roger Clemens when the discussion turns to
throwing the splitter.

But after last night's gem of an outing against Baltimore, both
pitching on and bouncing off the mound, you just might hear
Wang's name in the same conversation as, say, Jason Kidd.
Last night Wang, in just his third start since being reinstated
from the disabled list with shoulder inflammation, mesmerized
the Orioles by allowing just two runs and seven hits over eight
innings along with a stunning nine assists.

But from there on it was almost as if Wang wanted to take care
of the Birds single-handedly. Even Torre was amazed at the
